Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here marks 50th anniversary with new releases

Pink Floyd’s classic album ‘Wish You Were Here’ is seeing renewed attention through both a tribute project and a major anniversary release.

Tribute band Floyd Nation has released a cover album titled ‘Inner Light’, recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Inspired by comments from David Gilmour encouraging tribute acts to provide unique interpretations, the band has included three original songs written specifically for the project to add their own perspective to the classic material.

Separately, a 50th Anniversary Blu-ray edition of the album has been released. This edition features a new Dolby Atmos multichannel mix and includes a remastered 16-song live concert recording from April 26, 1975, at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. The live recording, which was originally a fan-made bootleg, has been restored by producer Steven Wilson and includes early versions of songs that later appeared on the ‘Animals’ album.
