Pino Daniele Foundation announces second Musicante Awards

The Pino Daniele Foundation is preparing for the second edition of the Musicante Awards, scheduled to broadcast on November 5 and 7 via Radio 2 and RaiPlay. Hosted by Gino Castaldo and Martina Di Florio from the Rai studios in Rome, the event aims to showcase various facets of musical artistry.

Alex Daniele, President of the Pino Daniele Foundation ETS, stated that the project is not a competition but a collaborative journey. Seven emerging artists, including Pierdavide Carone and Elisa Casadilego, will perform original unpublished songs alongside personal reinterpretations of Pino Daniele’s work. To prepare, the artists participated in a campus at the Milan Conservatory, working with pop-rock instructors to refine their arrangements. The final performances will feature the artists accompanied by top students from the conservatory.

In a related musical tribute, musicians Fabrizio Bosso and Julian Oliver Mazzariello recently performed “Il cielo è pieno di stelle” at the Zefiro in Jazz festival in Locri. The project, which began in 2022 and resulted in a 2024 album released by Warner Music, serves as a musical dialogue honoring the late Neapolitan singer-songwriter through various genres, including blues, rock, funk, and jazz.
