Pino Daniele biopic Je so’ pazzo faces criticism from former partner

The biopic ‘Je so’ pazzo’, directed by Nicola Prosatore and starring Massimiliano Caiazzo, has reached the top of the Italian box office, earning over 1.6 million euros in its first five days. Despite this commercial success, the film has faced sharp criticism from Amanda Bonini, the late singer Pino Daniele’s last partner.

Bonini expressed her disappointment on social media, stating that the artist ‘would have been horrified’ by the portrayal of his life and character. She contested several specific details, including the depiction of Daniele playing guitar with dirty hands and black nails, which she claims contradicts his deep respect for his instrument.

Furthermore, Bonini criticized the film’s portrayal of his physical appearance and habits, describing the character as appearing unkempt and eating in a ‘bulimic’ or messy manner that does not reflect the real man. She also took issue with the characterization of his speech and the depiction of his aunts, whom she described as being portrayed in a way that contradicts the respect he held for them.
