Pino Insegno’s comment wishing death on Lazio president Lotito draws criticism

On July 2, 2026 a protest organized by Lazio supporters gathered in Rome, beginning at Ponte Milvio and ending at Piazza Ankara near the Flaminio stadium. Over 25,000 fans attended the demonstration against club president Claudio Lotito.

During the event TV presenter and noted Lazio fan Pino Insegno addressed the crowd and said he had “wished death” on Lotito. The remark quickly spread on social media, with many users condemning the statement as inappropriate. Insegno later told reporters the comment was meant as a joke, saying he had spoken with Lotito and was not being serious.

The incident has sparked debate about fan conduct and the responsibilities of public figures in the context of football protests.
