Vinitaly and the City launches in Sibari, Calabria
The third edition of Vinitaly and the City took place from 17 to 19 July 2026 in the Parco Archeologico di Sibari, Calabria. Organized by Veronafiere in partnership with the Regione Calabria, the three‑day event combined wine tastings, master‑classes, talk panels and cultural activities to promote regional viticultural heritage.
The Consorzio DOC Delle Venezie presented its Pinot Grigio DOC for the first time at the venue, emphasizing the wine’s freshness, versatility and certified quality. Stefano Sequino, director of the consortium, said the participation “allows us to tell the story of our denomination directly to consumers.”
The Local Action Group of the Sibaritide (GAL della Sibaritide) led the Rural Hub Calabria project, creating an “Agorà GAL” space that showcased Calabrian agro‑food products, cooking demonstrations and exchanges with producers. President Antonio Pomillo highlighted the role of cooperation in boosting rural development.
High‑profile guests included Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida, Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli, President of the Regione Calabria Roberto Occhiuto and Veronafiere president Federico Bricolo. Occhiuto stressed that the event demonstrates the region’s capacity to deliver quality tourism and entrepreneurship. The programme will continue in Reggio Calabria on 8–9 August 2026, extending the promotion of Calabrian wine and culture.
Overall, the event underscored the integration of wine, history and tourism as drivers of regional economic growth.
