Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie harvest begins early in Italy
The 2026 grape harvest for Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie has begun in the earliest regions of Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and the Province of Trento. Due to a warm spring and high summer temperatures, the harvest is expected to occur earlier than usual.
The Consorzio reports that while the climate has accelerated ripening, the overall phytosanitary state of the vines is good and qualitative prospects remain favorable. The DOC Delle Venezie covers approximately 27,000 hectares, making it one of Italy’s largest Pinot Grigio denominations.
In various Italian wine-growing areas, the early harvest of white grapes and varieties intended for sparkling wine bases is driving seasonal changes. This period often includes local winery events, guided tastings, and vineyard tours as producers manage the varying ripening speeds caused by local weather and soil conditions.
