Pinstriped targets PB Lawrence Stakes redemption at Caulfield

Trainer Enver Jusufovic is preparing the Group 1-winning gelding Pinstriped for a fourth attempt at the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield this Saturday. Pinstriped has previously finished second in this race on two occasions, losing to Mr Brightside in 2023 and Gentleman Roy in 2024.

The gelding has faced health challenges, including a diagnosis of kissing-spine that requires careful management. To prepare for this race, Jusufovic utilized a non-traditional training approach, including a recent fourth-place finish at Caulfield over the same distance. Jusufovic described that recent performance as a “passmark,” noting that the horse handled the 62kg weight well after a long break.

Since returning to the stable, Pinstriped has undergone a modified training regime designed to treat the horse more like a sprinter, though the trainer noted the gelding still possesses the stamina to run out the mile.
