Pinterest launches AI ‘Restyle’ tool for virtual room redesign

Pinterest has introduced a new artificial intelligence feature called ‘Restyle’, currently in beta in the United States and Canada. The tool is designed to bridge the gap between visual inspiration and e-commerce by allowing users to redesign their physical spaces digitally.

Users can upload a photo of a room and use AI prompts to add or change furniture, lighting, wall colors, plants, and decor. The feature also allows for specific edits, such as swapping out individual items or erasing them from the image. Users can request complete stylistic overhauls, applying aesthetics like ‘bohemian’, ‘industrial’, or ‘whimsical’ to their existing environments.

A key aspect of the tool is its ability to integrate with a user’s existing saved pins, suggesting items they have already expressed interest in. The technology is powered by ‘Pinterest Intelligence’, which utilizes Nvidia Blackwell GPUs and Nvidia Dynamo alongside open-source models and proprietary technology to enhance visual search and discovery capabilities.
