Pio Cesare completes 10 million euro winery renovation in Alba
Pio Cesare has completed a major renovation of its historic winery in Alba, Italy, following a four-year project and an investment of approximately 10 million euros. The facility now exceeds 9,000 square meters, more than doubling its previous capacity.
The redesign reorganizes production: the historic core remains dedicated to red wines, while new spaces have been created to accommodate white wines, which now account for roughly 30% of the company’s production. The expansion also includes new bottling facilities, warehouses, and underground logistics designed to minimize the impact on urban traffic.
The 2026 harvest marks the first to utilize the fully operational new structure. Federica Boffa Pio and Cesare Benvenuto Pio, representing the fifth generation of the family, noted that the harvest has been complex due to varying altitudes in their vineyards, with Chardonnay picking beginning as early as August 10.
