Pio La Torre Award honors defenders of legality and democracy

The tenth edition of the Pio La Torre Award was held in Bologna to honor individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to defending democracy, combating the mafia and corruption, and promoting a culture of legality. The initiative is promoted by CGIL, Avviso Pubblico, and the FNSI in memory of the unionist and parliamentarian killed by Cosa Nostra in 1982.

In the trade union category, Federica Pietramala, General Secretary of FLAI CGIL Pollino Sibaritide Tirreno, received a special mention. Her recognition highlights her support for the families of the victims of the Amendolara tragedy and her role in organizing national demonstrations against agricultural labor exploitation.

Other winners include journalist Attilio Bolzoni, Vigonza Mayor Gianmaria Boscaro, and unionist Giovanni Gioci. Special mentions were also awarded to various journalists and local administrators for their contributions to civil and political values.
