Pio La Torre Award to be held in Bologna

The 10th edition of the Pio La Torre Award will be held on September 11 at the Auditorium Biagi in Bologna. The event honors the memory of the trade unionist Pio La Torre and his collaborator Rosario Di Salvo, who were killed by Cosa Nostra in 1982 for their commitment to fighting the mafia, democracy, and legality.

Promoted by Avviso Pubblico, CGIL, and the FNSI, the award recognizes individuals—including trade unionists, local administrators, public employees, and journalists—who have distinguished themselves in defending democracy and combating corruption, illegal activities, and organized crime.

The ceremony is organized as part of the University of Bologna’s 'Work and Legality' Summer School. The program includes a conference titled 'Legality and the Fight Against Corruption' and features contributions from Bologna Mayor Matteo Lepore, Franco La Torre, and Rosy Bindi.
