Piombino and Rimini host public conferences on gender violence prevention and feminist labour rights

On 28 July, the Rivellino venue in Piombino hosted a public conference titled “Recognise, act, protect” aimed at preventing violence against women. Organized by the municipality of Piombino together with the Soroptimist International Club Piombino and the Commissione Pari Opportunità, the event featured assessor Gianni Fedeli, who stressed the need to build a culture that recognises gender‑based violence early, followed by speakers Grazia Menti, author Cataldo Lo Iacono, and Dr Fiorella Chiappi who discussed how to identify warning signs.

A related series of meetings, “Parla con lei. Dialoghi con le autrici. Sapienza contro violenza”, continued on 27‑28 July at the Lapidario del Museo della Città in Rimini. Jurist Silvia Borelli, associate professor of labour law at the University of Ferrara, presented “Femminismi e diritto del lavoro”, linking contemporary work transformations with wage disparity, precarious employment and work‑life balance. The discussion was supported by local Acli groups and funded by the Emilia‑Romagna regional authority.
