Piombino hosts medical prevention seminar and historical commemorations
The city of Piombino is hosting a series of community events focused on public health and historical commemoration.
On September 19, the Rivellino will host ‘A tu per tu – Il salotto della prevenzione’, an educational event organized by the Scudo Val di Corniola association with support from the Municipality of Piombino. The session will feature an interview-style discussion with specialists including oncologist Fotios Loupakis, pulmonologist Giulio Bardie, and cardiologist Gabriele Borelli. The initiative aims to promote healthy lifestyles and increase awareness regarding daily preventive health measures.
Additionally, the municipality has organized a program to mark the 83rd anniversary of the Battle of Piombino, which occurred on September 10, 1943. The commemorations include historical lectures, such as a presentation by Gianpiero Vaccaro on Wehrmacht soldiers in local cemeteries, and a session on the history of rights by Irene Stolzi. The central ceremony will take place on September 13, featuring a memorial mass at the Concattedrale di Sant’Antimo, a procession, and an official ceremony at the Monument to the Fallen for Freedom involving Mayor Francesco Ferrari and City Council President Serena Raggi.
