Piombino opposition claims promised merchant relief is missing
Opposition groups in Piombino, including the Democratic Party and Piombino Domani, are criticizing the local administration over unfulfilled promises to merchants on corso Italia.
In March 2026, officials announced that businesses affected by roadwork on the street would receive economic relief equivalent to a full year of the Tari waste tax. However, six months later, opposition councilors report that no public acts have been drafted to regulate the relief and no funds have been allocated in the 2026 budget. The situation has become more uncertain following the resignation of the councilor responsible for the announcement.
