Piombino: Rifondazione Comunista demands restoration of free port parking

The Rifondazione Comunista party has called on the Port Authority to restore free parking at the Port of Piombino. Party representatives Fabrizio Callaioli and Dario Filippi submitted an order of the day for discussion by the City Council, protesting the unilateral removal of free parking spaces on August 10.

The party argues that the decision harms the mobility rights of residents in Piombino and on Elba Island, particularly those traveling for essential needs such as medical appointments. They cited Article 119 of the Constitution, which mandates measures to mitigate the disadvantages of insularity. Rifondazione Comunista is demanding the immediate revocation of the decision and the initiation of a conference between the Port Authority and local municipalities to establish additional free parking areas.
