PIO/MIO issues deadline for 2027 pension proof of life documents

The Federal Institute for Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO/MIO) has issued a notice to pensioners regarding the mandatory submission of a ‘proof of life’ document for the year 2027. To avoid the suspension of pension payments, eligible users must submit a certified document between November 1 and December 31, 2026.

Certifications completed before November 1, 2026, will not be accepted for the 2027 period. The document must be completed using the official form available on the PIO/MIO website and can be certified by pension insurance providers abroad, local municipal authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, notaries, or diplomatic-consular representations of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For individuals residing in retirement homes or hospitals, the respective institutions may provide the necessary certification. Once certified, the original document must be sent exclusively by mail to either the Mostar or Sarajevo offices of the Federal Institute. Failure to submit the document correctly and within the deadline will result in the suspension of pension disbursements.
