Argentina's Aapresid 2026 Congress Drives Regional Agri Innovation
The 34th Aapresid Congress took place in Rosario, Argentina from 4‑6 August 2026, attracting more than 12,500 participants, 450 speakers and 160 panels. The event highlighted a common agenda for South‑American agricultural research, with leaders from Brazil’s Embrapa, Chile’s INIA, Uruguay’s INIA, Paraguay’s IPTA and Argentina’s INTA discussing cooperation, financing and private‑sector partnerships.
Key sessions focused on soil as a strategic asset. Uruguay’s MGAP presented its Planes de Uso y Manejo Responsable de Suelo, in force since 2013, and a panel on public‑private policy tools. Jacto unveiled precision‑agriculture innovations, including the Uniport 4530 and 5030 self‑propelled sprayers, agricultural drones and a BalanceControl telemetry system.
The congress also covered sustainability and value creation. A panel on “The sustainability also pays” stressed that data‑driven practices can generate new business opportunities. Crop diversification with cruciferous species such as carinata, colza and camelina grew to 51 000 ha in Entre Ríos – a 70 % increase – and maize hybrid selection, density and management were examined by Illinois Seeds.
Parallel events included Mendoza Coopera 2026, which gathered over 200 stakeholders to discuss cooperative financing and innovation, and a livestock auction by Rosgan that sold roughly 1 500 heads of cattle. The congress therefore combined scientific, technological and commercial dimensions of the Argentine and regional agri‑food sector.
