Pionirski Park remains occupied by tent settlement after 18 months
A tent settlement established on March 6, 2025, in Pionirski Park remains in place eighteen months later. The park, located in front of the Serbian Presidency building, remains enclosed by metal fences and is inaccessible to the general public.
Pionirski Park is a protected nature monument and part of the protected surroundings for the Old Palace (Belgrade City Assembly) and the New Palace (seat of the President of Serbia). Environmental activists and experts claim that rare and protected plant species within the park have been destroyed during the 18-month occupation by government supporters.
The area is heavily secured with double or multiple metal fences, police patrols, and intervention units. The site contains approximately ten large tents, mobile toilets, and plastic containers, alongside banners featuring President Aleksandar Vučić. Access is strictly controlled through a registration tent near the city assembly, requiring prior approval.
