Pioraco mayors threaten legal action over extended SS 361 road closures

Mayors of Pioraco, Sefro, and Fiuminata have announced potential legal action against Anas following the extended closure of the SS 361 Septempedana highway. The road closures, affecting the tunnels between ‘Scoglio del Paradiso’ and ‘della Cartiera’, were originally scheduled for two weeks in September but have been extended until the end of October.

Local leaders Matteo Cicconi, Pietro Tapanelli, and Vincenzo Felicioli criticize the management of the works, citing a lack of institutional consultation and repeated delays. The project, which stems from a rockfall incident in 2021, has faced setbacks including equipment acquisition issues and periods of inactivity.

The nighttime restrictions, occurring between 21:20 and 06:00, impact the Alta Valle del Potenza region significantly. As the primary artery for the area, the closure disrupts industrial shifts at the local paper mill, affects family commutes, and forces residents onto longer, less secure mountain detours.
