Piotr Pytlowany appointed Bishop of Karaganda in Kazakhstan

Pope Francis has appointed Father Piotr Pytlowany as the new Bishop of Karaganda in Kazakhstan, succeeding Bishop Adelio Dell’Oro, whose resignation was accepted.

Pytlowany, a priest from the Archdiocese of Przemyśl, has served the Catholic Church in Kazakhstan for approximately three decades. After his ordination in 1994, he began his ministry in Kazakhstan in 1995. His extensive experience in the region includes serving as a parish priest in Makchinsk, Schuchinsk, and Akmol, as well as the rector of the Interdiocesan Seminary in Karaganda from 2011 to 2018.

Additionally, Pytlowany has served as the spokesperson for the Conference of Central Asian Bishops since 2018 and most recently held the position of parish priest at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Astana.
