Police respond to violent incidents in Warsaw and Piotrków Trybunalski

Several violent incidents involving foreign nationals and local citizens have been reported in Poland.

In Warsaw, a 33-year-old Polish man was arrested after a unprovoked attack on a 20-year-old Ukrainian citizen at a pedestrian crossing near the intersection of Świętokrzyska and Nowy Świat streets. The assailant struck the victim in the head, causing him to lose consciousness. The incident was captured on CCTV, and police officers on patrol intervened within minutes. The suspect, who has a prior criminal record for similar attacks, has been placed in three-month temporary detention on charges of hooliganism.

In Piotrków Trybunalski, a 15-year-old Ukrainian national used a pellet gas pistol to wound a 53-year-old man. The confrontation began on a public bus after a verbal dispute with a 19-year-old passenger. When the older man attempted to apprehend the teenager following the dispute, the minor discharged the weapon, hitting the man in the right hand. The teenager was taken to a police station, and the case has been referred to the family court.
