Piracicaba Councilor Fabrício Polezi hospitalized after falling into river

Piracicaba City Councilor Fabrício Polezi (PL) was hospitalized in serious condition after falling into the Piracicaba River while filming a video near the Ponte Pênsil area. The accident occurred on Wednesday morning near Rua do Porto.

An app driver, Rafael de Oliveira Araújo, and another individual jumped into the river to rescue the unconscious councilor. Following the rescue by firefighters and SAMU, Polezi suffered respiratory failure and required resuscitation. He was initially treated at the Hospital dos Fornecedores de Cana before being transferred to the intensive care unit at Santa Casa de Piracicaba.

Medical reports indicate that Polezi is currently sedated and on mechanical ventilation. The incident occurred during a period of high water levels in the river, with recent flow rates recorded at nearly seven times the historical average for September due to heavy rainfall.
