Ramilândia man arrested for suspected murder of 5-year-old daughter
A 30-year-old man, André Juan de Oliveira Cerdan, was arrested in Ramilândia, Paraná, for the suspected murder of his 5-year-old daughter, Rebeca Yasmim Cerdan. The child was found dead in her home by her paternal grandmother, who had returned from shopping to find the girl unresponsive.
Police reported that the victim showed signs of asphyxia around her neck. Cerdan confessed to the crime, stating he intended to cause psychological suffering to the child's mother, his ex-partner. He also admitted to being under the influence of drugs at the time. Authorities are investigating the case as vicaricídio, a crime where a person is killed to inflict emotional pain on a woman.
The local community and the CMEI Maria Alice Barros school have expressed deep mourning for the child.
