Bank of Piraeus posts record €617 m profit in first half of 2026

The Bank of Piraeus announced a record net profit of €617 million for the first half of 2026, translating to a 16 % return on tangible equity. Earnings per share reached €0.47, putting the bank on track to meet its annual EPS target of €0.90.

Loan assets grew to €39 billion, with net credit expansion of €1.8 billion during the period. Customer deposits rose 9 % to €68.4 billion and assets under management increased 24 % to €16.3 billion, supported by net cash inflows of €1.0 billion.

The insurance subsidiary, National Insurance, contributed €47 million of pre‑tax profit, generated €424 million in gross written premiums (up 7 % YoY), and led a rise in service income to €251 million. The bank’s cost‑income ratio improved to 34 %, and it plans to raise its net interest income target to €2.0 billion for 2026.
