Piraeus Chamber evaluates Greece's 2027 budget draft
The Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEP) has evaluated the 2027 budget draft submitted to the Greek Parliament. The draft aims to accelerate economic growth, de-escalate inflation, and further reduce public debt.
For businesses, the plan includes tax relief for consistent freelancers, a gradual reduction in tax advances, and the abolition of the occupation tax, starting with Thessaloniki and regional areas. Additionally, accelerated depreciation for machinery investments and a new 1.5 billion euro loan and guarantee program for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are proposed.
Regarding social measures, the draft includes further reductions in social security contributions, a 2 billion euro ‘My Home III’ housing program, and a phased increase of the minimum wage to 1,000 euros, scheduled for April 2027 and January 2028. EBEP notes that while the direction is positive, the ultimate effectiveness will depend on disposable income, operating costs, and actual access to financing for small businesses.
