Piraeus Chamber President evaluates Greek economic measures

Vasilis Korkidis, President of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), has expressed an optimistic outlook regarding the government's recent announcements made at the Thessaloniki International Fair. He noted that the measures aim to provide 'fiscal oxygen' to the Greek economy, society, and the real economy.

While acknowledging that some measures, such as the reduction of corporate tax advances, fell short of expectations for the business community, Korkidis highlighted that several permanent measures were introduced to improve liquidity and support households. He emphasized that the next step for the Greek economy must be a transition from tax relief toward enhancing productive competitiveness.

To achieve this, Korkidis identified several key requirements: reducing non-salary and energy costs, expanding access to financing, providing stronger investment incentives, accelerating digital and technological transformation, and offering targeted support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). He stressed that the true evaluation of these measures will depend on their implementation and their ability to become tangible for businesses and households.
