Piraeus Container Terminal reports higher profits despite lower traffic
Piraeus Container Terminal (PCT) reported improved financial performance for 2025 despite a decline in container throughput. According to the company’s annual sustainability report, container traffic decreased by 5.95% compared to 2024, a trend attributed to geopolitical tensions and shifts in international maritime routes, particularly in the Middle East.
Despite the lower volume, PCT saw its revenues rise by approximately 12% to €317.9 million, up from €282.7 million the previous year. Net profits increased by roughly 35.7%, reaching €36.1 million from €26.6 million in 2024. EBITDA also strengthened to €94.1 million.
The company attributed these results to enhanced cost management, optimized pricing, and increased operational efficiency through digitalization and automation. CEO Chen Dong emphasized the goal of strengthening Piraeus as a key international trade gateway by combining economic growth with functional efficiency.
