Piraeus hosts Famagusta photography exhibition

The Municipality of Piraeus and the Municipality of Famagusta are presenting a photography exhibition by Tassos Dimitriadis titled ‘When the beautiful past meets the tragic present’ at the Piraeus Municipal Gallery. The exhibition is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 15, 2026, as part of the ‘Cyprus Days 2026’ initiative and is supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus.

The exhibition features 30 pairs of photographs that create a visual dialogue between Famagusta before 1974 and its current state as a besieged area. By juxtaposing historical images of daily life—including streets, shops, hotels, and beaches—with modern shots of the same locations, the collection documents the dramatic transformation of the urban landscape and explores themes of memory, absence, and the passage of time.
