Piraeus hosts three-day Sports and Olympic Festival

The Municipality of Piraeus successfully concluded a three-day Sports Festival held from October 2 to October 4, 2026. Co-organized with the Mani Association and held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, the event focused on athletics, Olympic history, and the values of sportsmanship.

Activities took place at the Piraeus Municipal Theatre and Korai Square, featuring meetings between citizens and prominent Greek Olympians and champions. A central highlight was a rare exhibition of 44 authentic Olympic torches from various Olympiads, alongside other historical artifacts, tracing the evolution of the Olympic movement from antiquity to the modern era.

The festival also included experiential sports stations where participants of all ages could engage in activities such as basketball, judo, taekwondo, para-taekwondo, football, rowing, wheelchair basketball, and gymnastics.
