Piraeus Mayor meets with Minister of Migration and Cretan community leaders

Piraeus Mayor Giannis Moralis held two significant meetings on October 22 to discuss community integration and cultural support.

In a meeting with Migration and Asylum Minister Thanos Pleuris, Moralis discussed potential funding to enhance social integration initiatives for legal migrants and refugees. The discussions focused on supporting the Municipality of Piraeus's efforts to facilitate the active participation of these groups in local social, educational, and professional life through the Council for the Integration of Migrants and Refugees.

Additionally, the Mayor met with Evangelia Schoinaraki, candidate for President of the Pan-Cretan Union of Attica, and representatives of the Cretan Brotherhood of Piraeus ‘I Omonoia’. The talks centered on strengthening ties with the Cretan community, preserving Cretan cultural traditions, and exploring the possibility of establishing a student dormitory to assist Cretan students attending the University of Piraeus.
