Piraeus Port authorities seize heroin shipment destined for Leros
Authorities at the Piraeus Port in Greece intercepted a shipment of heroin intended for the island of Leros. During targeted inspections by the Piraeus Port Authority Security Office and the Regional Narcotics Suppression Group, a K9 detection dog identified drugs hidden within an unaccompanied parcel.
The parcel, a bag containing a plastic fabric softener container, was found to hold a sealed package of heroin weighing 18.66 grams. Additionally, officers discovered ten smaller heroin packets totaling 8.66 grams and five Liprazol tablets weighing 9.76 grams. The estimated value of the seized narcotics ranges between 340 and 720 euros.
A 50-year-old Georgian national was arrested for drug law violations and complicity. Investigations revealed the suspect was already subject to two administrative measures requiring him to report to local police. Authorities are currently seeking the recipient named on the transport receipt. Three mobile phones were also seized during the operation.
