Piran church discovers 300-year-old cross with 140 relics

A historic cross containing 140 relics has been discovered hidden inside a cabinet in the sacristy of St. George's Parish Church in Piran. The artifact, which is over 300 years old, was found by parish priest Zorko Bajc after being concealed for approximately 200 years.

The cross features fragments of bone and cloth from various saints, arranged chronologically and by hierarchical importance. Following its discovery, the relic has been placed on display in the treasury and museum of the church. The discovery was linked to a long-standing gift deed in the sacristy that had previously been misunderstood by local clergy.
