Piran delegation participates in La Sfida del Torchio festival

A delegation from the Municipality of Piran and the Giuseppe Tartini Italian Community is participating in the “La Sfida del Torchio” festival held in Basilicata, Italy. The event aims to promote Istrian-Venetian culture, local products, and the tourism potential of Piran and Portorož.

The festival features a parade including municipalities from Basilicata, Puglia, Piran, and Stockholm. A notable element of the ceremony is the presence of papier-mâché giants from the Putignano Carnival, with a figure dedicated to the famous composer Giuseppe Tartini representing Piran. The project seeks to highlight historical salt harvesting traditions and the linguistic heritage of the Istrian coast.
