Piratas FC draws 1-1 against Leones Negros in Liga de Expansión MX

Piratas FC earned a 1-1 draw against Leones Negros of the Universidad de Guadalajara (UdeG) during matchday 6 of the Liga de Expansión MX Apertura 2026 tournament at Estadio Jalisco.

Leones Negros took an early lead in the 22nd minute following a corner kick when Sergio Hernández's shot was deflected into the net by Omar Soto. Piratas FC responded before halftime; in the 44th minute, Omar Soto converted a penalty after Ángel Sinuhé López was fouled in the box.

During the second half, Piratas FC gained a numerical advantage when Ulises Torres was sent off following a second yellow card. Despite the extra player, the Veracruz-based side was unable to capitalize on several scoring opportunities created by Francisco Manuel García.

Following the match, Piratas FC manager Mario García noted that while the team's footballing approach is improving, a lack of clinical finishing remains a primary issue. García stated that the squad is mentally affected by recent results but remains focused on building a competitive project capable of reaching Liga MX.
