Pirates of the Caribbean 6 enters early development

The sixth installment of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise is currently in the early stages of development. While Disney has not officially announced a cast, fan predictions on the betting platform Kalshi suggest several returning actors. Orlando Bloom is currently favored by bettors to return as William Turner, followed by Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann.

Other actors mentioned in fan speculation include Geoffrey Rush, Bill Nighy, and Penélope Cruz. Additionally, fans are betting on new additions such as Margot Robbie, Austin Butler, Ayo Edebiri, and Hailee Steinfeld. While Robbie has reportedly been in talks, no official commitment has been made.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently provided an update at Disney’s D23 event, stating that the team is working on a screenplay and is in discussions with Johnny Depp regarding his potential return as Captain Jack Sparrow. However, reports indicate the new film may focus on a protagonist led by Robbie, with Sparrow potentially appearing only as a side character.
