Pirelli 2027 Calendar unveils India-themed collection in New Delhi

The 53rd edition of the Pirelli Calendar, titled ‘India’, has been officially presented in New Delhi. For the first time in its history, the project features a collaborative effort between three photographers: Norwegian Sølve Sundsbø, the legendary Indian documentary photographer Raghu Rai, and his daughter, Avani Rai.

Sølve Sundsbø’s contribution focuses on portraits of nine exceptional Indian women, including figures such as Freida Pinto, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Anoushka Shankar, captured amidst the landscapes of Rajasthan.

Following the death of Raghu Rai in April 2026, Avani Rai completed her father’s vision by integrating his extensive photographic archives with contemporary reality. Rather than using studio settings, Avani took his historical images back to the streets of Delhi and Mumbai, creating a visual dialogue between the past and the present by photographing modern life alongside her father’s legacy.
