Pirelli and Carabinieri partner to pilot Cyber Tyre technology in Rome

The Arma dei Carabinieri and Pirelli have signed a memorandum of understanding to pilot the Pirelli Cyber Tyre technology on vehicles within the Rome Radiomobile Nucleus. The initiative aims to monitor the condition of road infrastructure in Rome to identify potential risks and improve public safety.

The pilot program involves installing the system on five Alfa Romeo Tonale vehicles used for territory control and emergency response. The Cyber Tyre technology utilizes integrated sensors, proprietary algorithms, and advanced computer vision and artificial intelligence to collect and analyze data regarding the road network.

By combining tire sensor data with information from onboard cameras and AI algorithms developed by technological partner Univrses, the system can automatically detect road surface anomalies or issues with signage. This process will contribute to creating an updated map of road conditions without requiring manual intervention from operators.
