Pirelli and Mercedes conduct F1 tire testing at Magny-Cours

Pirelli conducted two days of tire testing at the Magny-Cours circuit in France to develop components for the 2027 Formula 1 season. Mercedes supported the program by providing reserve driver Frederik Vesti, who completed over 1,160 kilometers during the sessions.

The first day focused on intermediate tires under wet conditions, aided by overnight rain and artificial watering systems. Vesti tested various rubber compounds and constructions to identify prototypes with the best temperature ramp-up capabilities.

The second day shifted focus to slick tires for dry conditions, though testing was initially delayed by heavy fog. These evaluations allowed engineers to determine the transition point between intermediate and slick tires.
