Pirelli Calendar 2027 Highlights India Through Sundsbø and Avani Rai Collaboration

The Pirelli Calendar 2027 will be devoted entirely to India, the first edition to focus on a single country. The project brings together Norwegian fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø and the late Indian Magnum photographer Raghu Rai, whose contribution is completed by his daughter Avani Rai after Rai’s death in April 2026. Sundsbø provides studio‑based, highly staged portraits, while Avani Rai captures street‑level scenes in Old Delhi, creating a visual dialogue between Western and Indian perspectives. The calendar is set for public presentation on 20 October in New Delhi (Jaipur) and includes images of Padma Lakshmi, who speaks about the freedom of nudity, saying, “The nude is freedom. My body, after examination, became a lived house.” The launch aims to showcase India’s beauty, diversity and complexity through contrasting photographic approaches.
