Pirelli delivers new 2027 MotoGP prototype tires with F1-style markings
Pirelli has delivered a new batch of prototype tires to MotoGP manufacturers for the 2027 season. This marks the third delivery as part of a preparatory program to transition from the current supplier, Michelin, which has held the contract since 2016.
A notable visual update in this latest batch is the introduction of colored compound markings on the sidewalls, similar to the system used in Formula 1. This change is intended to allow viewers to identify soft, hard, or medium compounds directly from the broadcast without relying solely on graphics.
The 400-tire shipment, consisting of 80 tires for each of the five major manufacturers—Ducati, Aprilia, KTM, Honda, and Yamaha—was delivered to MotorLand Aragon. These tests are critical for building a comprehensive database across various track conditions before the first pre-season tests begin in Valencia on December 1.
