Two major criminal proceedings have commenced in Germany. In Soest, a trial is underway at the Arnsberg District Court against four individuals—two men aged 25 and 29, and two juveniles aged 16 and 17. They are accused of the prolonged torture, rape, and unlawful detention of a woman in a residential home between July and November 2025. The victim was rescued in November after a neighbor discovered her bound on a terrace. Prosecutors are also investigating at least one additional person following the discovery of new video evidence.

Separately, a trial has begun at the Bonn District Court against a 42-year-old man from Eritrea. He is charged with the murder of his wife and the abandonment of their three-month-old daughter. Prosecutors allege he strangled or suffocated his wife in a vehicle on November 16, 2025, before dismembering her body and leaving parts in various locations across Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. The infant was found unharmed in a stroller near a monastery in Hesse.
