Pirogov Hospital responds to death of 10-year-old boy
The Pirogov Hospital in Sofia has issued a statement regarding the death of a 10-year-old boy, Rosen, who died following an accident on October 24. The child reportedly fell from the ladder of an agricultural machine in Etropole and was transported to the hospital.
The hospital stated that the medical team applied all established standards and emergency protocols, asserting that the injuries sustained were “incompatible with life.” However, the child's parents have accused the medical staff of negligence, claiming the boy was conscious upon arrival and that they waited for more than two hours before he was admitted for treatment.
The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into the death. The probe is examining potential causes related to the “negligent or unskilled performance of a legally regulated activity representing a source of increased danger.” The Ministry of Health is also involved in reviewing the circumstances of the medical care provided.
