Pirot identified as the most affordable city in the Balkans

The Serbian city of Pirot has been identified as the most affordable city in the Balkan region. Travel influencer Iv Beserovac highlighted the city's low cost of living, noting that various goods and services can be obtained for minimal amounts of money.

Pirot is renowned for its traditional culinary specialties, most notably its kačkavalj cheese and peglana kobasica. The cheese production has historical roots dating back to the 19th century, utilizing milk from livestock grazing on the medicinal herbs of Stara Planina. The city also hosts the only dairy school in the Balkans.

The peglana kobasica, a meat delicacy made from sheep, goat, or beef, is shaped using a glass bottle to create a distinctive horseshoe form. This specialty is typically available during the winter months and has gained enough popularity to inspire a world championship competition held in the city.
