A Kuwaiti Air Force Boeing C-17A Globemaster III landed at Pisa's Galileo Galilei Airport on Monday, August 24, sparking political controversy regarding the use of the airport as a military logistics hub.

Local political coalition 'Diritti in Comune' (comprising Una Città in Comune and Rifondazione Comunista) has demanded clarifications from the government and local administration. The group pointed to images showing what appears to be an anti-aircraft artillery system, possibly a 35mm Oerlikon system, near the aircraft's cargo ramp.

Flight tracking data indicates the aircraft followed a strategic international route, including stops in Kuwait City, Verona-Villafranca, Dover Air Force Base in the United States, and Glasgow Prestwick in the United Kingdom, before arriving in Pisa. Opposition groups have raised concerns about the lack of transparency regarding the origin and final destination of the military equipment, suggesting it could be related to industrial activities at Rheinmetall Italia in Rome.
