Pisa experiences continued seismic activity with magnitude 2.4 earthquake

A seismic swarm continues to affect the area near Pisa, Italy. On August 9 at 8:37 AM, a magnitude 2.4 earthquake was recorded by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), with its epicenter located approximately four kilometers west of Pisa at a depth of 9 kilometers.

Although this recent tremor was of low magnitude, it was clearly felt by the local population, with some residents reporting a rumbling sound. This event follows a period of increased seismic activity in the region, including a more significant magnitude 4.3 earthquake on August 4 and a subsequent magnitude 3.2 tremor.

Experts characterize the current situation as an evolving seismic swarm consisting of frequent, low-magnitude movements. While no damage or injuries have been reported from the most recent activity, authorities and specialists continue to monitor the area closely.
