Pisa implements electronic ZTL controls near Stadio Porta a Lucca
The city of Pisa has begun testing electronic gates for the ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone) in the Porta a Lucca neighborhood to manage traffic during Pisa SC home matches. Initial monitoring indicates a reduction in road congestion and illegal parking on sidewalks, improving livability for local residents.
The municipality has invested approximately 250,000 euros in a technological infrastructure consisting of 24 electronic gates. A pre-operational testing phase for these gates will run from October 26 to November 24. Full automatic sanctioning is scheduled to begin on December 4, coinciding with the home match against Sampdoria.
Mobility Councilor Massimo Dringoli stated that the initiative aims to restore livability to the area rather than generate revenue through fines. During the testing phase, local police will continue to patrol the area to issue manual citations. The ZTL is active two hours before kickoff and remains in effect until the end of the first half of matches. Access for mopeds and motorcycles remains unrestricted.
