Pisa implements new parking zones for bicycles and motorcycles near schools

Authorities in Pisa have begun installing approximately 80 new parking spaces for bicycles and motorcycles in Largo Concetto Marchesi. The project, located on the south side of the road in front of the Santoni and Buonarroti school complexes, aims to address disorganized parking that has previously obstructed sidewalks and narrowed traffic lanes.

The intervention was developed through collaboration between the Municipality of Pisa, the Province of Pisa, and local educational institutions. By concentrating two-wheeled vehicles in designated areas, the city intends to reduce illegal double-parking, which has historically disrupted public transport services during school entry and exit hours. The works are expected to be completed by September 14 to ensure the new regulations are operational for the start of the school year on September 15.

This experimental measure is part of a broader effort to reorganize traffic and parking in the area. Similar initiatives have been proposed for Viale Armando Diaz near the Palazzo degli Studi to clear pedestrian paths near the Corbino and Rizza institutes, reflecting a local focus on improving urban decorum and student safety.
