Pisa Knowledge Alliance formed by six major research institutions

Six major academic and research institutions in Pisa have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the Pisa Knowledge Alliance. This strategic network aims to unify the region's research, training, and innovation efforts to better attract international talent and investment.

The alliance includes the University of Pisa, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Scuola Normale Superiore, the National Research Council (CNR), the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), and the European Gravitational Observatory (EGO). Together, these entities represent a system of over 45,000 students, 1,600 doctoral candidates, and nearly 6,000 staff members, mobilizing more than 630 million euros annually.

The collaboration focuses on eight strategic areas, including coordinated institutional relations, talent mobility, shared laboratory infrastructure, and support for innovative start-ups. An operational framework agreement is expected to be drafted within six months to define specific implementation methods and engage with local authorities.
