Pisa railway works: Putignano underpass construction resumes
Construction has resumed on the Putignano underpass project in Pisa, aimed at replacing a level crossing to connect parts of the neighborhood separated by the Pisa-Florence railway line. To facilitate preliminary work on the railway platform and soil consolidation, train services between Pisa and Empoli will be suspended from October 9 to October 11.
The project is being carried out by RFI, with the Municipality of Pisa contributing over 4 million euros. Local authorities have set a target to complete the works by the end of 2027. Mayor Michele Conti stated that the project is a fundamental intervention intended to improve the quality of life for residents by reconnecting the divided district.
