Pisa to host 55th National Meeting of the Italian Society of Agronomy
The 55th National Meeting of the Italian Society of Agronomy (SIA) will take place in Pisa from September 16 to 18. Titled ‘Agricultural production systems in the era of eco-digital transition’, the conference aims to address the challenge of reconciling agricultural productivity with environmental sustainability, natural resource protection, and climate change adaptation.
Organized in collaboration with the University of Pisa, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, and the CNR Research Area of Pisa, the event brings together academic scientists, institutions, and industry leaders. The program includes workshops on organic certification, agroecology, regenerative agriculture, and Assisted Evolution Techniques (TEA).
Key sessions will focus on three main areas: efficiency through precision agriculture and Big Data; substitution via biostimulants and microbiomes to reduce chemical impact; and redesign through complex cropping systems and agroforestry. The event concludes with debates on the eco-digital transition and a technical field visit to the Tenuta di San Rossore.
